I Quit Vlogging...Kind Of

Just as the title says, I kind of quit vlogging. I quit daily vlogging, but I did not quit vlogging all together. For 203 days I put a video up every single day. There were a few days I missed due to poor internet connections, but I did not miss a single day of shooting and editing during those 203 days. It is a huge accomplishment and I am very proud of the work I did.

What Did I Learn?

What did I learn from daily vlogging for 203 days? An incredible amount. I learned how to tag and post videos to getthe most exposure. I learned how to edit video, how to shoot video, how to design cover photos and market outside of YouTube using Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and many other plaorms.

I learned color grading, and how much time it takes. Color grading is almost impossible for a daily vlogger, unless he/she is willing to spend several hours editing every single day. I typically spent one to two hours editing and only had time for a bit of color tweaking.

Shooting video is not the hardest part of daily vlogging, but it isn’t easy. The most difficult part of it, for me, is that it is embarrassing! Holding a camera out and talking to it attracts attention, and as an introvert I don’t like attention. Then there was learning how to hold the camera, buying stabilizers and tripods, and a good camera that would make my videos clear and allow my beautiful face to shine through.

Why Did I Quit?

I quit daily vlogging because the quality of my content was going down and that was not fair to you (my viewers) or me. To be successful in any field one must provide the most value possible to the target audience, and I was not doing that. I know I have a lot more value to provide you guys and I would rather work for a week on a video and release it knowing it is great than release seven crappy videos in that same week.

The videos are still coming and I promise they will be better than ever. Just stick with me, keep subscribing, and you will see what I can do with a little more time.

What Now?

Now that I have so much more free time to pursue my passions, hobbies, and businesses, I am working on a slew of things. One is the continued vlog. Another is my new video production business for destination resorts, luxury hotels, and intimate AirBnBs. It is off to a great start and I am looking forward to seeing it grow exponentially over the coming months.

I have also been getting more into photography. There is another business I am working on with my brother that will be announced later this year, called OngoingLight.
